Just today my attic insulation project was completed. The space is relatively large, about 700 square feet, and I got it done for free. Our local electric company has a program where you have a consultant come to your house to do a free energy survey. If they determine it would help to have insulation blown in, they give you a coupon for $300 - which totally covered the cost for my job - and they provide you with a list of approved contractors. I'm hopeful this will help cut down my horrendous electric bills. Maybe there is a similar program in your area.
